1. Mission

PMC @ Pasir Ris is committed to raising faithful disciples, caring for one another and reaching the community for Jesus Christ.

2. Vision 2012

2.1

Through fervent prayer and submission to the leading of the Holy Spirit, PMC @ Pasir Ris shall, by her 80th Anniversary, be:

A Spirit-filled and welcoming community, set apart as an oasis of worship and spiritual renewal. Our services will offer a warm, friendly, contemporary and supportive environment for varied expressions of worship and Spirit-led ministries. Our pulpit ministry will vigorously defend the faith, help people lead meaningful lives and motivate them to know, love and serve God with all their hearts, minds, soul and strength.

A bible-centred and life-long learning community, aspiring to Christ likeness and holistic stewardship. With a systematic and well-balanced spiritual development process to reflect different learning styles, members will be challenged to seek God’s Word as a life-long commitment. Empowered with God’s unchanging message for victorious Christian living, members will be equipped to respond to prevailing realities in a manner consistent with their faith.

A biblically functioning community anchored by cell groups as the main shepherding vehicle, led by trained leaders with the gift of shepherding and who will lovingly feed and care for those in their care. A biblically functioning community is one that offers support, care, mutual encouragement and accountability as members seek to grow spiritually, exercise their spiritual gifts for the benefit of the church and share with one another so that no one will be in need.

A vibrant outreach and witnessing community that is compassionate, responsive to prevailing community needs and sets PMC apart as the “light of the world and salt of the earth”. We will strengthen and initiate appropriate children, youth, school based, family life and Mandarin outreach ministries to reach the unchurched with the love of Christ and partner with community leaders to build cohesive families at Pasir Ris. We will accelerate our commitment as an active partner in social work and world mission.

A catalyst of dynamic lay leadership and staff development with a clear, purposeful and systematic strategy to develop and renew servant leaders at all levels of ministry (visionaries, analyzers and doers). We will develop a core leadership team of fully devoted disciples (lay and full-time staff), endowed with leadership and other complementary gifts, to refine and mobilize members toward the fulfillment of the vision. We will review and organize the church to meet changing needs, facilitate spiritual growth, care and support for members, and ministry effectiveness in the community.

2.2

Our fulfillment of the vision shall be characterized by at least:

2000 members (growth based on estimated current membership of 900 and compounded annual growth rate of 7-9%);
Six weekly services;
70% of members in cell groups;
70% regularly pledging and giving to the needy;
70% learning through cell, bible study or other active learning programmes;
70% serving in at least one area of ministry;
20% of annual operating budget committed towards social causes and world mission;
10% of expanded leadership team sent annually (long and short term) for exposure to social/community work and world mission;
80 disciples who have readily taken up the cross to follow Him in mission or full-time service (Minimum term of 1 year, including those in full-time service within local churches, para-church organizations and theological training).

3. Two-Year Goals (2002/03)

With God’s blessing, PMC shall have a congregation of 1100 members by 31 December 2003, focusing its commitment and efforts on the following:

3.1

Towards a Spirit filled and welcoming community

Build upon existing worship services to consistently remain vibrant, celebratory and Spirit led.

Ensure that the pulpit is a platform of inspiration and empowerment that serves to feed the soul and increase one’s faith and commitment to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Create an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality with worshippers genuinely caring for one another and those who visit.

Provide wide-ranging education to worshippers about understanding and developing worship, prayer and bible reading as a lifestyle.

Launch a full function, third English weekly worship service with 150 regular worshippers, offering an alternative worship service format and timing that is contemporary and responsive to the changing needs of targeted segments of the community.

3.2

Towards a Bible-centred and life-long learning community

Develop and implement a comprehensive discipleship strategy that can help every member, regardless of age and literacy, to develop spiritually, understand and identify his/her gifts, call to ministry and life’s mission in the world.

By the end of 2003, at least 40% of the membership roll would have participated in at least one of the DS programmes.

Identify and train 30 lay bible teachers that are equipped with the gift, vision, character and knowledge to teach others.

3.3

Towards a biblically functioning community

Develop a comprehensive shepherding strategy to care for all members, with cell groups as its foundation.

Organize the visitation ministry to complement the Hope Cell Ministry.

Train and mobilize 50 new caregivers and /or Hope cell leaders.

Create opportunities to promote meaningful fellowship among members and leaders, i.e. member/member, member/leader and leader/leader. These do not have to be church-wide or cell based programmes only.

3.4

Towards a vibrant outreach and witnessing community

Develop a comprehensive strategy to reach out to the community for Jesus Christ, including setting aside up to 10% of PMC’s annual pledges and offerings for community based initiatives and programmes.

Strengthen our children (SS and PMCK), youth and Mandarin outreach ministries as PMC’s main outreach platforms to the community.

Launch at least one new community outreach ministry, eg family life ministry, targeted at first to families with young children at Pasir Ris or Family Service Centre partnership.

Develop a school outreach initiative, connect with the identified school and mutually explore partnership opportunities to help the students achieve a well-rounded education at the school.

3.5

Towards leadership regeneration

Establish a leadership development strategy to identify, develop and renew servant leaders at all levels of ministry.

Implement an annual leaders development process for existing and potential leaders.

Review current organization structure and modify to facilitate growth and effectiveness in executing the strategy to achieve the vision.

Review staff recruitment process, compensation, performance management and career development to reflect new realities and our desire to attract increased numbers of anointed individuals to full-time service in PMC.
