I have spent 19 years (which is slightly more than half my life) serving in the company, including 11 years as Captain, and 7 years as the Seniors Programme Chairman of the Brigade.

I have witnessed many times both at the company and brigade level, the work of God in using the Boys’ Brigade to reach out to pre-believer Boys. Even as miracles take place at the organisation’s level, my life too was transformed as I served and partner God in His ministry. God has mould me in my character and changed my life, from an introvert to extrovert. His gifts of leadership, shepherding, wisdom, and organizational skills has enabled me to bring the BB ministry to greater heights.

It’s never about what my talents are or what i can do, it’s about me allowing God to use me through His provision and gifts for His work. I believe that only FAT (Faithfulness to God, Availability of ourselves for God, Teachability which represent humbleness) Christian can be effective minister for God’s work. God uses the ordinary to get extraordinary results so that the world will know that it is God at work and not us.

I come from a non-Christian family background, knowing nothing about Christ. However through the BB Christian Education (CE) programme and weekly devotions, Christ was being introduced to me. In the beginning I use to think that Christianity was not my cup of tea but thank God, He did not give up on me.

God revealed to me one very simple point - that He loves us all while we were yet sinners and that He came to die for our sins and not for our goodness in Christ Jesus. This led me to receive Christ into my life. I accepted Christ when I was in Sec 3 and through Sunday School and the CE programme, God helped me to grow in my faith and changed my values and character - from an irresponsible and selfish person to a responsible and helpful person.

BB has also prepared me for leadership positions through various training camps. Many opportunities were given to me in holding junior leadership posts which has then built me up for even bigger roles. Through all these training I have become a better leader. I hope that I can make an impact and plant seeds in the Boys’ lives, just like what I experienced years ago.

Hi, I am Wei Xiang from The Boys’ Brigade and I am here to share with all of you about what I had learn and been through over the years in BB. This is my 8th year in The Boys’ Brigade, being a Boy for 5 years and serving as a Leaders’ Council Vice-Chairman for a year and being a Leaders’ Council Chairman for a year. But what I had learned in the past 7 years is something that can never be found in the textbook. I learn various skills through activities that the BB provides me with, for example, leadership skills, social skills, character building, teamwork, project planning and management and many more.

As I come from a low income family, all these extra activities wouldn’t happen to me if without the subsidy that the BB gave. And without all these, there wouldn’t be me standing here to share this testimony with you.

But I know that all this subsidize comes from all of you which showed us your support every year by donating to our BB week fund. I just want to thank all of you here and hope that all of u will continue to provide for us as we continue to train the Boys’ and make them the future leader.

Hi, my name is Nico Ho. It has been the sixth years in the Boys’ Brigade, and how time flies. I am glad to be a part of this huge family that is the 23rd coy. Being a senior at the BB, I had been through numerous camps and courses. As I looked back, it really amazed me, how from a shy and quiet boy as many would be during sec one to what I am today, able to lead and handle projects confidently. I also remember that I was a weak and low in stamina sec 1 boy. Doing push up was like a "mission impossible" for me. But after having been to all the training, camping and games, which we usually have after parades, I also start to begin to build up my physical.

I was also given the opportunity to learn and practice leadership skills, life skills, camping skill, and so on. I also came to know Christ more personally. At times, I am able to use the teachings that Jesus taught his disciples, and apply it when I'm mentoring my boys. Spending every second in the BB is meaningful in every way as it has developed me physically, educationally, socially and in character.

I had so much unforgettable moments hanging out with such a great family in the BB. I really have to thank the officers, boys, friends and fellow church members. If not for you guys out there, I really wonder what I would have become?

Nico Ho
